    Description

Mobach Utrecht Platter, very good condition, heavy fired ceramic.   11 ¼ " diameter x 2" height.  Charcoal black matte with glossy pearl glaze.  Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.  [**NOTE**  Made in Holland?  Made in the Netherlands?
The official name of the country is the Kingdom of the
    Netherlands
. King Willem-Alexander is the king of the nation.
    Holland
actually only means the two provinces of Noord-
    Holland
    and Zuid-
    Holland
    . However, the name
    Holland
is often used when all of the
    Netherlands
is meant.]  I'll explain why I told you this in a minute!
So, What is a "Mobach Utrecht" anyway and why should I want one?  Well, the Mobach family... from Utrecht... in the Netherlands... (their official company being "Mobach Keramieck" - say Mobach Ceramic)... have been making their specially hand-made and glazed ceramics... for five generations.  Their pieces are world-renowned, earthy, simple, visually pleasing and delightfully mastered in form and function.  Google them!  They've also won quite a few international prizes too!
When I found this piece in an antique store, I was drawn to it for the design.  It just stuck out of its surroundings like a diamond among plastic toys.  So I Googled it.  "Mobach Utrecht" is clearly stamped on the back - and the second photo shows that.  I can find no date on it.  However, among the internet photos of Mobach Utrecht ceramics, there are 2 platters that are similar in style.  They keep popping up in different places and I have caught them labeled as c.1970s.   **I cannot verify nor deny that.**  It seems reasonable.  Their owner claims "made in Holland."  Mine is stamped "Mobach Utrecht," which technically means the same thing.  Now are we clear as mud?
The platter is in very good condition - no cracks or chips.  There are some cosmetic scratches on the bottom from general wear from movement over the years, and what you can see in the photos should be obvious as to what you'll receive.
I try to price my items below the competition, but still within the reasonable range of what the item is worth.  I want the buyer to know he/she got the best deal, but also to know that this is something you can be quite proud to have found and invested in.
