I do the best I can to package things as safe as I can with the shipping route you choose. I try and charge as close to actual shipping costs as I can even though it does cost me some extra money for the envelopes, bubble wrap, tape, and gas to get the post office. Once in awhile I even pay out of pocket for shipping because I don't charge enough.
