    Description

Well there sure is a great story behind this mandolin.   It is a prewar
Supertone built by the harmony company back in the 20's/30's period.  This was an old Farmland barn rescue.   This was aquired from an elderly woman who was the daughter of its owner.  This mandolin was used regularly for barn dances and house parties back in the 30's when she was a little girl. Later on into the 50's and 60's it was retired, stored and even lost. Her father past and it became missing in action. Many years later which was quite recently it was discovered by her family and put back in her hands. She was torn as to what to do with it.   It was in extremely poor condition but it had so many memories.   She considered displaying it on the wall, offered it to her grandchildren and nothing ever became of that so she decided she thought she would try to put it back into someones hands that might bring it back to life so it could sing again. Well as you can see from the pictures there are plenty of scars.  There was multiple cracks, a large whole with missing pieces between the bridge and the tailpiece. Lifted fingerboard, loose bracing and edges. Well now all the bracing has been securely reset, the cracks have been glued and cleated from the inside.  There was a patch of vintage spruce fitted into the area between the bridge and the tailpiece and securely cleated underneath in the interior.   Fingerboard was reglued and shimmed straight.  Edges reglued tight.  The tuners tailpiece and pickguard are all original.  So now yes it still has scars and war wounds but it plays and sounds absolutely beautiful.   The action is comfortable and plays clear all the way up the fingerboard and the tone is excellent for its model and design.  Yes again it has cosmetic flaws but don't we all at 90+ yrs old but functionally great and sounds excellent. If you receive this mandolin and for some reason do not like it I will gladly take it back.    Comes with original case.
